Halal Accreditation Agency (HAK) by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye, 04/06/2022 dated 31856 numbered and published in the Official Gazette dated 04/06/2022 and 31856 numbered “Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM) and the Law on the Establishment and Duties of Exporters’ Associations and the Law on the Amendment of Certain Laws” amended by Article 10 and 11 of the Law No. 7060 on Certain Regulations Regarding the Halal Accreditation Agency, it is reported that the institutions that issue halal certificates for all products and services to be supplied to the domestic market, including imports, are obliged to be accredited by HAK.

It is stated that the amendment will be put into practice after a transition period of 1 (one) year, that HAK will impose an administrative fine of up to 1 (one) million TL on organisations found to have issued halal certificates without accreditation after the transition period, and that such certificates must have been obtained from reliable certification bodies accredited by HAK as of 04/06/2023, the date on which the above-mentioned amendment to the Law will enter into force.
