Alanya Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Eray Erdem pointed out that they had positive impressions that the 2023 Tourism Season could leave 2019 behind on the first day of the ITB Berlin Fair, which is one of the biggest tourism fairs in Europe. Erdem, who had extensive meetings with Volker Adams, Head of Travel Policy Affairs of German Travel Agencies (DRV), in addition to his numerous contacts at the fair, said, “Mr. Adams shared his views with us that the new season will be a season in which Türkiyq will compete with Spain in the German Market. We have also received the opinions of Mr. Adams on what can be done in order for Alanya, which has been experiencing losses in the European and especially the German Market for a long time, to get its share from the interest of the German Market to our country.”
POSITIVE RESPONSE FROM ADAMS TO ERDEM’S INVITATION
President Erdem, who also stated that they received a positive response from Volker Adams, Head of Travel Policy Affairs of DRV, whom they invited to Alanya after the meetings; “We agreed to cooperate with Mr. Adams in order to benefit more from the German Market. He also stated that he added Alanya to the Türkiye program he plans in the coming months. We agreed to turn this meeting into a long-term cooperation.”
Participating in the fair with ALTSO Board Members and many tourism professionals, Erdem also said the following in their evaluation of the fair: “We exchange ideas with our tourism friends by visiting the stands in Alanya and Antalya, on the other hand, we get their opinions and suggestions by meeting with influential names of foreign travel agencies. At the moment, we have thoughts that we will experience a successful season in which our country has a very positive image. But I think that this situation should not push us into complacency, avoid being cautious and prevent us from working better. As Türkiye and Alanya, we are in cooperation in this important organization where all the stakeholders of tourism come together.”
